Not quite the same thing, but one of my bandmates had a custom Griffiths tele stolen two years ago and he recently tracked it down about 5 hours away. A guy posted on facebook looking for information on the guitar that he had bought at a pawn shop and my friend is heading down there this weekend to pick it up.
