This is a one-sided relationship - he does what he wants, abuses and hurts people and hopes you'll be there to help him pick up the pieces...once maybe..twice (the fool I am)...after that there isn't a friendship.

For many that is the hardest thing to accept with someone who has addiction. Being in a relationship (friendship, marriage, even blood family) that is toxic to you is not healthy and not a relationship.

I know your pain and hope you can focus on you, your wife and your life and let his chips fall how they may. If something really terrible happens (God forbid) you have every right to mourn, feel a loss - but never feel guilt.
