Personally I have found many MIM guitars to be pretty much on par with their American counterparts. One of the least expensive instruments Ive ever bought is 2007 MIM tele. I literally haven't changed anything on it- its all stock parts. Yet it outplays any other guitar Ive ever owned including several American ones. The 2011 tele sounding great may just be the result of better and better fender products coming from Mexico.
