At this point, it doesn't matter what you've done. You own it. In the future though, any reputable seller would have let you pop the control off, remove the neck, etc., to check for authenticity. He would have encouraged it almost.
Aesthetically, I like it. I hope it's comfortable & sounds good & i'm glad you got a better price on it. Let us know what your findings are & take some more pics of your findings.
