+1 on the 'thrutone' modded EB.
It replaced a mids 80's Goodrich that I'd been using since the mid 80's
. And I went through EVERYTHING trying to find a replacement for that classic bad boy!
Besides making it TBP or buffered/active passive with
a pot for adjusting the 'load' he also cleans up/evens out the taper and string tension. And it uses a standard 9v. tip neg pwr sply. You can also use it completely passive. IMO, it's one of the two best options out there now for a quality vol pedal. The Hilton

Also, in my experience, Morley vol pdls seriously messed with my sound and the taper is absolutely terrible (if it's 'swells' you're looking to do) - YMMV.
