Ok, so the back turned out OK...with a little sanding it is looking nice. That helped me with courage to begin on the top. I was concerned about the very old oak veneer and that it would chip out on me. So, I found a scrap piece and practiced on it. It worked so I went ahead with the top. I raised the 1/4" roundover bit just a little so that it was not a complete roundover. It turned out fine.
I was very happy.
