Lots of great insights and opinions here. In answer to the original question, no, I won't be buying any.

I'm trying to remember the last time I bought a NEW Fender product, and I think it was a Pawnshop '72. I bought it because it was quirky, and I worked a deal which basically got me the guitar for $600. I didn't have to pay full price, or I would not have bought it.

There is only one Fender purchase I am currently contemplating, and that would be a Custom Shop piece. As far as off the shelf offerings, I have all I need. If another need should arise, I'll buy used. With the guitar market the way it is, it would be insanity not to.

I recently (couple months ago) bought an MIA strat on Craig's List. 2008, like brand new. Not a scratch, still had the plastic on the pickguard, all case candy, strap, everything. It was basically unopened. $600. Why pay more?
