sfcmark, a friend of mine wanted his reissue DR rebuilt with handwired board and Mercury Magnetics trannies. As part payment for my work, I scored the stock Fender trannies. I scrounged and reused a few other items, like the PCB-mounted pots and input jacks and the trem roach and reused them in this build. I didn't use anything real fancy, like expensive paper in oil coupling caps. I did use Nichicon caps in the power supply. Cost a few extra bucks, but nothing outrageous.
It is very close to the stock RI circuit. As you can see on the back panel, I've installed bias test points. I also utilized a single 1/4 stereo jack as opposed to RCA jacks for the reverb and trem footswitch. The circled portion of the trem circuit is about a 50 cent improvement to the original circuit that makes it MUCH nicer. Gives it a soft start, as opposed to a hard on/off.
I got the chassis from Mojo. While it is nicely made, the stock power tranny did NOT fit, so I had to do some cutting, which was a real bummer, since I had already started installed all the tube sockets. Had to do a little disassembly to get my jigsaw on the spot I needed to cut. Other than that it was a fun build.
The cab is finger-jointed pine with a 1/2" baltic birch speaker baffle.
