if you're using a weber wse15 ot (5000 ohm, multitap):
* the 5000 ohm is not perfect for either a 6v6 or 6l6, but will work for both. that means if you use an 8 ohm speaker in an 8 ohm tap, you're good.
* the 6v6 would prefer a higher impedance (around 8000 ohms), so if you put an 8 ohm speaker on the 4 ohm tap, it would see around 10k ohms which would be okay, but not necessarily better.
* the 6l6 would prefer a lower impedance, so if you put an 8 ohm speaker on the 16 ohm tap, you would be presenting 2500 ohms to the tube which is better.
with regard to rectifier/tube combos:
* if you're using a 5y3 rectifier and a 470 ohm cathode resistor, you're okay with both tubes.
* if you're using a gz34, things change. you wouldn't use a 6v6 with this. a 6l6 would be okay, but would prefer a lower cathode resistor.
do i have this right or do i have it all backwards?
thanks!

I figured out the output transformer taps, so I'm good there. Can you guys clear up the rectifier tube/ power tube part?
