I think you mean Star Wars or Return of the Jedi. I saw Star Wars on its opening weekend in 1977. The scroll at the beginning of the movie didn't have any title above it and it didn't say Episode IV. It just started right in with the text.
A New Hope and Episode IV were appended by Lucas well after the movie came out. Just one more example of Lucas raping and revising his own classic works.
I'm glad Lucas didn't make Casablanca. By now, it would probably be populated with Ewoks and gremlins, the part of Rick would be played by Short Round, and Natalie Portman would replace Ingrid Bergman (with a ridiculous hairstyle, of course).
Oh, and Sam - of course - would be replaced with Jar Jar Binks!
