My Dad had a workshop downstairs where he messed around with electronics..Valve stuff mainly..
He had a PA, mic and records, reel to reel tapes.. that he used to DJ most of the local church events and dances... Xmas parties...etc...
all stuff he made himself.... we kids were the roadys...
I used to sit on a stool in my pajamas for a while before bed time watching him solder stuff, use his meter to test things, make the cases and housings... poke around in repair stuff..talk at length about what he was doing at the time.
..I'm sure I asked a lot of kid questions ....
.. all the names of components were familiar to me before I got to double figures...
I never did get the bug back then to get into electronics as a career... having all that early exposure...
this is the last bit of stuff I found that I watched him build mid 60's.. a reel to reel tape player, with extra preamp for more external inputs.... and in a nice ply box...
I've already gleaned a few old caps/12ax7's/au7's.. from it..it was never going to work as a unit again, no schematic.. and the rubber wire coatings were falling off in places.....
