I'm to lazy to join a club but I've lost 30lb before and several times more recently 15 and 20lbs on various low carb diets. It doesn't seem to matter which one as I've done Atkins, GI and Dukan variations with similar good weight loss effects. Given how hard/slow it is to absorb fibre and/or protein I never feel like picking. When I want to lose weight I give up alcohol, potatoes, pasta, bread, rice, sweets and milk (probably forgotten a few) and the weight just drops off.

I'm a fundamentally lazy bum so I usually drift back to the bad stuff with predictable results and then need to go back on the diet but at an absolute worst I keep 75-80% of my original weight off and have done for the past 5 years. FWIW I'm on the diet again now with a view to shedding a few pounds post Xmas/New Year.

YMMV and all that but my cholesterol always seems to drop after being on these diets too which can't be bad. When I lost my biggest amount (30lbs) it went down from 6.4 to 4.6. The nurse taking it refused to believe I had spent 6 months eating greasy English breakfasts (no fried bread!) and pretty much chucked me out of the clinic.

Oh and it's very expensive on the wallet as I had to chuck out all my clothers after too.

Keep at whatever diet you start. You can do it!
