Well, he may have ~said~ that, but I always thought he was firmly rooted in the style of Les Paul myself.
I had known about Danny for years before I ever heard my first Les Paul record, and as soon as I heard it, the connection just
washed over me in waves it was so obvious, I remember I started laughing out loud when I 'discovered' Danny's primary source, because I wasn't looking for it, I had just bought a Les Paul record because guitar players are supposed to know about all the old schoolers, y' know? And BLAM, all I heard was 'Gatton' styled (
) comping and chording flowing off that record, which was made probably when Dan was maybe 5 years old, hehehe.
