We'll, I'll admit, I have limited exposure to DG.....but what I have seen\heard, just wasnt my cup of tea. Doesnt mean he wasnt a great player, just not my taste.. I have a copy of an old "American Music Workshop" (is that what it was called??) on VHS. It was the one with Vince Gill where he had Danny Gatton, Albert Lee, .....DG's tone was the most shrill & lifeless tone I believe I have ever heard. When he would take a lead it literally sounded like a buzzsaw.....he was just all over the place & the biggest part of the playing just made no musical sense to me....In that particular video, Vince Gill outshined both DG & Albert Lee (man I hate his 70's strat tone nowadays)......HOWEVER, I was impressed with the video posted in this thread....now I can see why he has some loyal fans......
