This may explain something I never realized. When I first started doing these, I was cutting between 2 5/8" marks on a 3/4" nominal board and having a devil of a times keeping it flat. Then as I read further in David Russell Young's book, he was cutting between 3" marks on a 3/4" nominal. I tried that and it seemed easier to smooth and less abrubt of an angle (being somewhat math challenged) of what seemed to be 13 or 14 degrees (measured with my Dollar General plastic protractor

). I don't know if this would help, but it's a thought (the practice cut always seems better...........sigh
