I always liked his earlier stuff on Columbia. Thought he went kind of haywire around the "Saints & Sinners" era. One record that holds up pretty good from the late '70s is "White, Hot & Blue"- don't know if it's released on CD. "Nothing But the Blues" is pretty good too. I think one of his best later efforts is "Hey, Where's Your Brother?"
The Alligator releases sound a little harsh to me, but still show his great chops.
