FWIW I bought a an amp last year with an IC driven spring reverb that didn't work when I auditioned it. I bought it anyway, had the dealer send it out for a factory authorized repair (dead IC, and back to me in less than 2 weeks). All OK since then (great amp and very good reverb).
As BC said, exchange it-if exchange is not possible you may luck out with a quick component replacement repair like I did,
