It has the 3-way toggle plus the S1 switch. This Telecaster has stolen the best from the Strat World: The contoured body.
The S1 switch makes it possible to switch from neck and bridge pu in parallel to neck and bridge pu in series á la humbucker. This guitar has got the best from three different worlds.
Guess: Unfortunately Fender has only sold 12 of this wonderful instruments, and the 2004 production is still in stock. Thats why your brandnew Deluxe was dated 2004.
GKW: You don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. The American Deluxe has been around for much longer than the current "MARKETING" items on the Fender site imply... and in different configurations.

Look for American Deluxe Telecaster® (Old) or the part number of 010-5500/02. That's my 1999 American Deluxe Tele... thank you.
