Fender Japan has model numbers in the neck pocket. Teles from the US or Mexico do not (or anywhere else for that matter).
From the serial number you can find the year and country of manufacture. From there you can narrow it down by features - type of bridge, decal, tuners, string trees, pickups and so on. Or you can email Mr. Gearhead from the Fender website with the serial number and he'll let you know exactly what it is.
$700 is a lot more than what I'd pay for a used US Standard. For a '52 reissue that's a good price if original and in good shape.
I wouldn't worry about the warranty but I do all of my own setup and repair work.
