While shaping the back profile I heard a funny papery noise when rasping on the area behind the 1st frets. So, where the TR ends. Rasped right through the skunkstripe... Turns out the no slip mat I thought to use to reduce TR rattle prevented the TR from sinking deep enough into the channel + prevented the skunk stripe from staying in place even when clamped. I've seen lots of guys have disasters on their builds so why should mine be any different? Now I gotta figure out a way to get the skunk stripe out with frigging up the maple it's glued to. Check TR channel depth, relax TR, come up with some other way to prevent rattle and make a new skunk stripe...
