I have a couple of Bardens in mid (a Strat p/up) and rear just now.
I'm tempted to get 2 p/ups that'd go better with my (often used) neck P-90 and finance purchasing them by selling the Bardens.

any suggestions gratefully received - thanks.

Yes, there are several. The T-90 made by Steve Kersting of SK Guitar Specialties, the S-90 made by Harmonic Design are two of the best. These have adjustable pole pieces like the P-90. The "Special" by Jason Lollar is a fine pickup in this regard. Not as beefy as the ones above, but bridges the tele/P-90 gap very well. Duncans 1/4 lb's is a ggod one. Not as much twang with this one as the ones above, but still sounds good. Dimarzio's virtual vintage Hot T is a great, underated pickup. Nice tele twang and snap and rolling the tone control down get's into P-90 territory. There are contless others, but these are a good place to start.
