3.3k resistor is correct.

I just use the schematic at Duncans site it always works.

You can get all your parts at Radio Shack for $2-3

I have converted 2 50's Classics into Esquires worked great both times.

If you want your fake neck pickup sound to be adjustable you can use a mini pot. Here ius a schematic for that incase you wanna try it.
