A Rat!!! Really....it's probably the best - least expensive and most rugged distortion box out there. For even more versatility, get one modded by Keely.

On the '69, if it's anything like the fuzz face clone that I built (Mike Fuller supposedly copied the FF for the '69), it'll distort nicely but not as much as you're probably looking for. It also doesn't have a lot of tunability. His 70s pedal will give you more beef.....

but...really...check out a Rat or even pick up a used one on Ebay for cheap.
