We decided from the beginning that we would gig every 4-6 weeks unless some sort of special even comes up that our families can enjoy (playing at festivals and such) it really works for us and the reason why is we're all buying into it. We turn down gigs if it adds stress to anyones schedule (5 members) we only practice once a week for 2 hours. We strictly play covers and we have fun doing it.
Not saying we have the perfect formula but it is working great for us.
I tell you all of that to tell you this... If you're not having fun, GO FIND ANOTHER BAND! One that shares your philosophy of gigging more and contributing more! I hope you find a good gig and always HAVE FUN!
Please everyone...i was just explaining my personal situation. I am not trying to brag or pretend I have the right answer.
Thanks for your comments. One of the singers has the attitude of your band -- he constantly says "we're just playing for fun" -- and I understand that, but for me the "fun" is playing regular gigs, once a month, twice a month, whatever -- not taking months at a time off between gigs.
