I'd agree that a good quality single coil sounds unbeatable clean, but why is it that 99% of s/coils I have tried/ owned sound gurgly and ice-picky when overdriven? I'm talking mainly Strats - Teles seem better in this respect. The only exceptions to this in my experience are overwound/ high-ish output s/coils. My only solution was to turn the tone knob way down.

Anyone else experience this?
