That's an insightful statement, and a very interesting discussion. Counsellors sometimes use art therapy to help a client integrate their felt experience with their conscious. Someone is asked to draw or paint their experience (trauma, depression, abuse etc). This is not a job for the conscious mind, and the sub-conscious takes over. The second part of the therapy invites the client to discuss the painting, and it is in using language, that the sub-conscious starts to become conscious. Once there are words around our experience, it exists in the world of the reasonable, and can help the person 'make sense' of what happened, gives it a handle. Sorry for the hijack, it's fascinating stuff.
