I like my Carl Martin Delayla so much that I bought another one NOS in case I break the thing. It's all analog, AC powered (no battery option), and has a tap switch for tape delay type second head repeats. (not tap tempo) The odd time double repeat of the tap seems to work when I turn down the mix for a distorted amp sound... Better than my other analog delays with ordinary single repeats. I've had an Echoplex, and numerous other analog delays, and even shamefully bought one of those line 6 do everything stomp delays which worked perfectly so I sold it. I've even tried running the wet side of a delay through a compressor into a second amp hoping to smooth out the bump bump of the repeats under heavy distortion; more of a throbbing wash. Still end up using the Carl Martin. Aside from the terribly unhip name, I don't know why the Carl Martins aren't more popular. I'm also suspicious of some of the "analog" delay/ echo/ reverb pedals that are small and cheap. Paranoid that someone is trying to slip me a digital mickey. I'm still not totally satisfied with delay in general, but the CM is the closest I've found.
