ivory

If there was ivory my piano buddy would have saved it. He tends to save "the action" on pianos if it is nice. I had never thought about that before and it is a jamming idea, he has file cabinets full of old ivory and ebony, could use the ebony for a nut if I was that way inclined too. Since my cousin lives out in the country and I am in the city we are going to be buying most of the parts so when we can squeeze in a day in the shop we can see a hope of playing these things by Fall. I scored a neck on trash day a couple of weeks back, nothing amazing but it is maple and rosewood, 25.5" scale, with enough headstock to get bandsawed into a tele style, and it was FREE. That said at some point I will be diving in and attempting to make my own neck, and when I do I am raiding that ivory cache. Even as I get better at things I still feel like I am attempting more than achieving, but you learn more from getting it wrong than getting it right in life and guitars.
