Generally you can pick up china made machinery at very little cost, but to be honest if you want any kind of quality you have to buy known brand equipment, which is sent from China (at manufacturing) to the US (assembled with a 'made in USA sticker on it') and then shipped back to Hong Kong at an inflated price.
So in short, if you want any degree of accuracy in your tools you have to get the expensive stuff. Whilst it may seem that living in China and close to Taiwan might mean cheaper goods, it often turns out to be more expensive.
