I've never seen a snowy owl in the wild, although our local raptor rehab center has a couple.
They are an extremely rare bird in New Jersey, finding their way this far south only when a particularly brutal weather spell in the far north forces them down here. I do know hardier souls than I who go out on the coastal dunes looking for them when the weather gets particularly cold!
