The RCA 6V6GT my friend sent arrived today. I put it in the amp along with a nice Tungsram 12AX7 I had sitting doing nothing. Along with the Jensen speaker this amp is transformed! What a tight little tone machine. I can dime the gain on the #4 voice and get a super sounding blackface with just the right sparkle and almost no breakup using my Strat to try it out tonight. Had the volume up to 6 like that and it was still tight all across the spectrum, little to no breakup, no flabby bass, no sizzle in the highs.
Still need to play with the other voices but honestly, I can't get off #4 long enough to try anything else out!
