1) I don't know from personal experience, but I do know that the magnetic bridges don't play nicely with pickup designs that are different from vintage. Heck, they don't even play too nicely with the vintage design either! Non-magnetic is what Bill Lawrence recommends and he designs his pickups with the brass bridge in mind.

2) No. I looked high and low. I use the Gotoh brass bridge with Bill Lawrence pickups and I can tell you that the whole vintage bridge mystique is not all it's cracked up to be. Sure it sounds a little different, but you're going noiseless so it'll sound different anyway. I can still nail down a convincing vintage-type tone just fine. It's more about managing output, gain, EQ and technique than the type of bridge.
