Keeping a "Dampit" moistened inside the soundhole (follow instructions) will eliminate many of the issues described within this string. It's very simple to use and can be had for a few bucks. Checks, peeling pickguards, cracks, string action, etc. all of which can be attributed to the many stresses exerted on wood during seasonal changes and regional climate over time. Not storing an acoustic in the case only increases and accelerates these stresses. Not to mention the increased risk of accidental damage.
