I always take the guitar I want to play, but I agree with Tidepoolbay - it's so much easier to use a small amp (or a house amp, or a line-in) that I'll sacrifice and not take my favorite amp. I'm looking at getting a Tech 21 Blonde just for that purpose.
Of course, I've never played in a church where I could turn up my favorite amp anyway!
