I dug into that thread more and one of the suggestions was that a 600-800 is optimal. Several people noted a 1k is too much. I think the term "subjective" likely comes into play here, so I picked up a few different caps to try in that range, including the 50/50. I'll go to my favorite electronics shop nearby and pick up a few different resistors.
