I guess I need to make a guitar out of paper and scissors?

Cut the shape out with scissors on each of maybe 1000 pieces of paper and then glue up to make an MDF-like body?

That is amazing! I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Personally, I was hoping to finish in the top 100 or so.

I just re-read this....good one...LOL. The biscuit box was for the cardboard body in the event the sticks didn't make the cut.

Paper Mache (sp) is a possibility, but I think it has been done on a classical already.

I went slow with it and only increase depth .25 at a time. The old allparts body I used to trace my line on the wood was shaped a bit different than the tdowns drawing I used for the perimeter, so It left areas a bit thinner than I expected... I'll add some sticks there to bulk them up.

Two layers of top sticks are now drying.

Neat! There appear to be a couple of places around
the perimeter where there is a gap. Are those strategic
or to be filled in?

The plan was to cut miters and fit the pieces together tightly. After gluing them directly to the back, having some slippage and irregular ends, I thought I might drill between them and put in a post, like a keyway. That may or may not happen. I'll fill the gaps with something though....the gears are continually turning as this thing evolves. If I end up putting a layer of vertical sticks on the outside as a veneer, none of that would be seen.

You could cut your "keys", then cut the ends off a few sticks to square them, and stand them up vertically, so there's no endgrain. Just a thought

I didn't do anything today on the gaps....the shed is like 90 inside. Today is supposed to get close to a record high again.

Here are the top 2 layers. I went a different route. I glued the sticks to posterboard and then another layer directly on top of them alternating the gaps. I then peeled off the posterboard leaving a layer of paper that I will sand off. The yellow glue sets up nicer than the white glue but the sticky aerosol adhesive held them in place better I think.
