Got some more done today. Working on the neck. Got a real nice glue up. Fretboard and neck fit together very well. When you look at these let me know if you think it is a 12 inch radius.
My tuners also arrived today. I ordered some frets on the 13th and have not received them yet. The seller waited 7 days after payment to ship.....Oh well, I am sure there is a good reason. |

Thanks Barncaster. Every time I see your posts I am reminded how much I want a true barncaster. I think that will be a project in the future! My wife is ready for this one to be over so it may have to wait a while after the contest though!

Slow progress is still good progress. Actually, anything other than "regress" is good, which
I'm prone to do, lol. Neck and fretboard are looking good, although it's hard to determine by picture if that's a "true radius". Looks radiused to me from here anyway. Everybody has to start with a 1st build and yours is coming along nicely.

Well, more neck work tonight. I have decided that I will never say a handmade instrument is over priced again! I worked on the radius some more, think it is right. I will know better when I get my frets. Here is a shot of the neck after quite a bit of work on the belt sander.

There really was no good reason offered but I am just not gonna get offended about it. He is gonna send another set, since the first order still has not arrived. I will send a set back to him if they both show up and he will pay return shipping. So, all is well.......if they ever get here. |

Spent a good bit of time working on the neck, sanding, sanding, sanding.... Looks like it is working for me. Good glue joint, heel measures out right. Fret board seems a little too thick, but I may work it down some with the radius block. Haven't decided if I need to yet.
How deep is the neck supposed to set in the body? I thought 5/8ths of an inch, but it looks like that is not deep enough. Please excuse the poor picture. |

Since most of my tools are very cheap and some of them home made, I thought I would throw in a photo of my belt sander.
It is square to the table, and works well. I am very happy to have what I have, but one of these days I plan to have a well equipped wood working shop. |
