You made the right choice on the which way to face the top leather. It looks good with the larger/wider scale rows below the bridge and the narrower ones near the neck. Looks good.

The way I'd wire it up is with a 5 way (ala strat) with a pull-pot on the tone, which would turn on the neck pickup (or bridge if you prefer). That way, you can access the classic telly middle tone, along with all the strat tones... done this myself to a number of guits like this over the years, works like a charm...

And once again, Scatter creates another REALLY COOL guitar!!!

Here is the Deaf-Eddie diagram I used but I switched the bridge instead of the neck. My middle pickup is out of phase when combined with the neck or bridge. I was going to reverse the leads but I decided I like the wide wange of tones available and I still have neck and bridge together in phase.

The guitar looks absolutely brilliant Scatter - superb stitching there. By the way - I don't like thinking of sewing as sewing - I prefer to call it textile engineering

I'd be hard pressed to get 'gator' hide over here - but I might be able to come up with some salt water crocodile - they are big boppers too!

Anyways... the guitar is too cool!!

Wow. I'm fairly new to the forum, but I have to say you've got the right stuff Scatter. I'm working on my first builds (didn't join the challenge as I don't think I can finish on time), a lefty from scratch for my ten year old and a right handed for me and you've been a great source of inspiration and knowledge. As a matter-of-fact all of you guys are. Thanks.

Very, very cool. Is gator hide "tanned" like leather?

found this alligator bone on the front porch this morning someone dropped off while i was out

took it to the table saw to check it out, it's solid hard bone, really hard

squared up each end on the belt sander

lookin good

sanded till i got this

got two nice nut blanks

cleaned up the nut slot

used the nut blank itself as a sanding block

nice tight fit

the ol half pencil trick

shaped a little more

glued in with super glue (i'm all out of hide glue)

I was kind of iffy on what a gator-covered tele would look like... Gotta say it looks GREAT!

And of course it just HAS to have a gator bone nut!

Very cool build (as usual!) Scatter!
