Pink, your signature winding color... I say run with it. ;)

Where can we get beeswax, is his a TrueValue item ?

My daughter made a beautifull pure beeswax candle

You have to go to a eko-hippie-store.

Just do it.It's very rewarding to wind your own pickups. And they sound great to!

Leigh, its not that hard you have to make something that turns and something that counts. A computermouse is ideal for a counter I had a fancy digital counter but it was to sensitive and it picks up all the vibrations of my machine, so that didnt work. The advance of using an old sewing machine is that all the parts are there. Its convienient to have a footpedal so that you have your hands free to manage the wire etc.

A computer mouse?
Old sewing machine sounds like a great idea, I'm sure there's plenty of those thrown away

My wife has a spinning wheel and she gets deep into that Zen moment making yarn.

Hmmm... I wonder if she could wind pickups on that thing...

This is how I hooked up the computermouse on the winder. the "copper" wire acts like a spring and makes the mouse "click" on the right button. (and let the mechanical counter click also) Now I can either do a +1 on my windows calculator or more easy use the little program my brother wrote .

I bet she can you just have to keep track of the amount of turns. Or you can measure the resistance every now and than.

That would be the resistance of your wife he's talking about... As I recall it's the most important parameter.

Not much resitance there - if I don't look out, though, I might end up with a matching hat and scarf knit from 42 gauge formvar!

Today I was able to do some more work on the Koelcaster. I drilles the screwholes for the bridgeattachment.

Also drilled the stringthrough and the ferruleholes.
Then went on for the pickup-cavities,fi8rst made a template:

And off we go...

I think we can make it before christmas

Eastern, is not possible I think

But I routed the control cavity I think long about making a controlplate but with th big bridge and big pickups it will be to crowdy. So I routed it out from the back.

The grain is going a bit skewd on this body si it looks like everything looks a bit odd.

Tomorrw i rout the edges nice and round and make the jack-hole . I think its spaying time soon....
