This wood was givin to me yesterday, dont know what it was, real rough cut, 54"x11 1/2"x1 5/8", old piece, not warped, looked cool



not big enough for a one piece so I cut it 7" wide for a two piece with a old power saw



found an old computer desk in the corner and used a piece for a straight edge, used router to cut me a straight line



used a 1 1/2 " bit to cut 1 5/8" , took a couple of passes but it worked

used the ol powersaw to cut some slabs



got out the ol claps an glue



clap em up

also glued up another body from the leftovers



setup the good ol handy planner/router type thing



plane that baby down to 1 1/2" thick



I think it may be Pine? ya think?

trace me a line, and look for leather glove



good ol saw gets the job done, it's the hand burner model



and the ol four nail deal, gettin ready for router

I use a 1" bit with bearing on top



then flip it over and use a 1 1/2" bit with bearing on end



sweet



then I get out the drill press

I use Dremel tools through the bridge holes to line up neck pocket template



and some bed rails to keep the template straight



get that router going again



thats about it for today



now what kind of Tele can i build with inch an a half pine? maybe that black Esquire in the Blackguard book

Very informative. Those without a well equipped woodshop should pay attention to this thread. It's great to see other methods of getting the job done.

what I did today
pulled out a leftover 1" maple board



put the jigsaw to work



screwed on the template



got the router on the job

put neck in trusty ol fret jig, marked the nut slot for a measuring point



got out the truss rod slot router jig



busted my 1/4" bit on first pass, doh! so I thru in the 3/8" bit,

this little jig routs the angle on the back of neck



3/16" on top to 3/32" on the bottom
