YIKES, I miscounted the votes on Appearance and in doing so announced the wrong 3rd place winner.
I'm sorry sorry. I figured I'd better make it right rather than leave my mistake. So, I apologize to everyone for being a dunderhead. |

How the judging took place:
The judges voted for their favs in each category (ingenuity, originality, appearance, build thread and overall result). The winner of each category got 5 points, the second place got 3 points and then 1 point for everyone else receiving a vote. The Scattesquire got the most points total. Followed closely by the Palletcaster and the CADocaster. |

I'll tell you one thing kids, ALL of those builds had a lot going for them. It was not easy trying to find something to make one rise to the top.
Kudos to everybody involved. Steve Dikkers aka Buckocaster51

I am surprised, thankful and honored to be included in the top 3... Thanks to Paul and the panel of judges and all the other contestants for a fun month of building, creativity and innovation. It was fun trying to see what I could make instead of buy and throwing caution to the wind and trying new things.
Thanks Again to all and congrats to Scatterlee.

Congratulations to everyone who participated. I enjoyed every single build thread, and learned something from each of them.
I hope that those who didn't finish in time, stick it out and keep posting their builds. I'm looking forward to seeing those finished up too. ps. Scatterlee, do us all a favor and don't use that money on tools or parts. I really enjoyed your ingenuity and use of low-tech tools. Spend it on beer. |

Congrats Scatter Lee... and to everyone else who gave it a go. It was a really fun month watching all these guitars come to life. I'd be proud to own any one of them.
I'm already looking forward to next years competition.

Beautiful work everyone! It's inspiring to see such quality instruments being made - it shows all of us that with a little time & effort, we can do the same thing. Of course, having the fountain of knowledge known as tdpri only a few clicks away doesn't hurt!

Fantastic effort from all concerned, even those that were unable for one reason or another to complete in time.
To the three guys on the podium, I think your guitars look amazing. If they play as well as they look, they are fine indeed. As for the winner, I must say that's the build I followed most and the end result looks stellar. Congrats.. |

As a newbie here, I think I came around at a great time! It was so much fun to read all the build threads and get a concentrated crash course on building a great Tele on the cheap!
Congrats to the winners... and to all the participants! There was something unique and impressive in every build. Thanks! Jim Last edited by jimdkc; March 18th, 2009 at 04:29 PM. Reason: Fat fingers... |

DANG! Those are all impressive. I really like the looks of the Palletcaster. That whole coppery look is really cool.

This was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I'm hoping I have access to a workshop next year, I'd love to be a part of it.
