stage 3 (spoiler content)

Well, what a stage! (for what I saw of it, I fell asleep for a bit)

the protesters were dealt with pretty swiftly & in a great manner, enabling the 1st breakaway win of the tour! For a second there I thought there was going to be a horrid incident where the peleton caught them in rather unceremonious style.
Congrats to Romain Feillu for stealing away the malliot jaune!

the 1st TT is on today, cant wait!

Did you see Bernard Hinault give that protester the heave ho when he got up on the podium? Awesome! Things got real good whne the peloton got split up.

I love watching dust ups in "gentlemens" sports, it cracks me up!

Seems to me the American kid, Wil, in his first Tour just missed wining that stage by his own hesitation. It sure looked like that on TV anyway. When they interviewed him he said the same thing, too.

I didn't get to watch the whole thing but thought I heard them say that there was a big wreck again. Were many guys hurt or knocked out of the race?

These guys have to be some of the best conditioned athletes in the world!

I'm not sure if anyone had to abandon but a rider went head on into the lane divider and bent a sign backwards. He looked in pain. It happened shortly after the peloton decided to catch the breakaway and the crash split them in two. Menchov got caught in the back and Robobank had to drop back and do all the work to bridge the gap.

There were a couple of wrecks and yes, a couple of guys were injured bad enough to retire... they hit one of the medians on a narrow road when in a big group.

Nicki Sorensen from the CSC team, Angel Marcante and a third cyclist whose name I didn't get collided, with the Nicki looking quite badly hurt - his tour could be over as it looks as if he's broken his arm, elbow or - at the very least - collar bone. The crash, along with the pace, blows the peloton to smithereens. The peloton was split into two large groups not far from the end of the stage. And a time gap of 42 secs or so was assigned to the split in the final results.
