Well, Re: a design that's different w/o standing out, one that you don't see everyday, mission accomplished.
Re: my Crate, I'm really fond of that little yellow Taxi. Those portable Crates are workhorses, and the Crate TX-30 (Taxi) was built in the USA.
It was a gift from my kids when I first started playing out. While raising three kids I didn't gig, aside from the occasional wedding gig (wedding service and/or reception).
When the last of our three were grown and gone, I started gigging at local coffee shops. My very first gig was on a borrowed amp, then the kids went in together to get me this Crate Taxi. So I'm sentimental about it and will never sell it for that reason alone.
And it's been great for the small venues and outdoor events that I do. This little sucker's loud. After 7+ years of running a mic and a/e guitar through it, the battery needs replacing. Other than that, it's still solid and in working order. I'll replace the battery and keep it as my amp for acoustic and/or for backup.
