Back in the '70's, a guy showed me a 'phase' pedal. Can't remember who made it, but there indeed was one.
As I remember, it was a combination volume and phase change pedal. you manuallyturned the foot pedal left and right to get the 'phasing' effect.
Never saw another one, though.
