I usually agree with Boris on most points, and I was skeptical about the CVs, as well. I figured how good can a $299 Fender be? Especially, when the Squiers over past 10 years or so (IMHO) haven't been anything great (although I never bought one, just played them in the stores). But, after breaking down and buying one of these CVs, I have to agree with the sentiments of most of the group members who own them. It's just a good honest Tele, that sounds terrific. What is nice about it, is it really doesn't need any upgrades. The pickups and tuners are very good, the finish on mine doesn't appear to be nearly as thick as some of the Mex production and the fretwork is some of the best I've seen on any Fender. It doesn't mean I'm planning to sell any of the favorites in my Tele collection since the CV arrived. But, if the budget's $350, I don't think you can do much better.
