The Rick 4005 is not a semi-hollow. It doesn't have a center block.

The Hofner is not a semi-hollow. It doesn't have a center block (yes, I've seen one dismantled). AFAIK none of the Beatle Bass clones (e.g. Epi Viola) have center blocks. Feedback is reduced because there aren't any f-holes.

I think some of you are confusing semi-hollow with semi-acoustic. Not the same thing.
