Can you enlighten me on a couple of things?
How do you achieve that awesome finish after machining the back of the neck?
I'll be doing a neck soon, CNC'ed, and i'm aiming at 0.001in scallop height, with a 1/2 Ball-nose.
Will be machining at around 50ipm, 12000rpm.
Can you give me your input? Are these reasonable values?
Ok, second question:
When cutting your fret slots, can you give me your parameters? I mean, depth of cut, feed, spindle speed...
In my case i'm aiming at .008 - .010 in terms of depth of cut...
Any help will be gratly appreciated.
In the meantime, this body was machined with a .005in scallop. Not too bad, but i'm aiming for a better finish.
Thanks in advance!

Hi...50 IPM at 12000 sounds good. As far as the fret slots I used .005 depth at 8000 RPM and 10 IPM. .075 deep. It took a bit of time to slot all the frets , but I didn't want to have to change cutters in the middle of a run! That is more of a pain then the extra time to slot! Those .021 to .024 carbide endmills are fragile!
Nice work on the guitar...As Jack stated, it looks like MDF... double layer...Was there dust in the air!!?!..

..
Cheers
