This is an interesting approach. I would just buy the correct screw length however. 1 3/4" or longer requires a deeper hole than the depth of the inserts. My inserts only require 1 1/2" screws. Anything longer than that is not really needed in my opinion.

I agree with some of the Philtone process, and some of it I do differently. To each his own.
