It was obvious to everyone that MJ could die at any point, and crafty business people have contingency plans for those possibilities which don't need to include actually killing the guy themselves. When painter Mark Rothko committed suicide in his studio, his manager/gallery rep's went by in person to scoop up all the paintings and sketches they could find within hours of hearing of his death, and his daughter spent years in court to get them back. People like that (artist managers) are not caught unaware by suicidally-depressive artists with drug habits dropping dead without "warning".
Police tape off
crime scenes, not death locations. If my grandmother has a heart attack tomorrow, the cops aren't going to tape off her house either.
