For the price range you are in check out a used G&L ASAT Tribute. Much better quality constuction, fit and finish than the MIM Fenders plus all USA pickups and hardware comes on them.
Saw one the other day on Craigslist for $325. My nephew just bought a brand new one for $499. We played a bunch of MIM Fenders and G&L ASAT Tributes and the the G&L's were the clear winner IMHO.
